People affected by mental illness suffer from widespread systemic discrimination even from their own family. Low-income families undergo tremendous sufferings in addition to the social stigma attached to the illness.

Mental healthcare is not a profit making service and is, therefore, not commonly available. Ansar is one of the pioneers of psychological healthcare in Kerala having an inpatient capacity of over hundred. Patients come from all over Kerala and Lakshwadeep & Laccadive Islands. Behavior therapy, family counseling and de-addiction programs are also offered here.
